Ecological Field Station

Rieth Village is an ecological field station for undergraduate programs at Merry Lea.  Two cottages provide housing for up to 32 students, and a third cottage serves as the initial classroom and office building.  Rieth Village has been designed and constructed with a strong commitment to sustainability.  The project was awarded the platinum LEED certification (55 points) from the U. S. Green Building Council in 2007.

Undergraduate Students visit the Ecological Field Station at Rieth Village as part of their course labs or to take courses that are taught entirely at the Field Station including the courses for the Agroecology Summer Intensive and the Sustainability Semester in Residence programs.  More information about Rieth Village is available under the sustainability section of the website.
